Everything you want to know before choosing your first diamond ring

Understanding Diamonds Before You Choose

Understanding Diamonds Before You Choose

Every diamond has its own story. If you're choosing a diamond ring for the first time, what you need to know isn't nearly as complicated as you might think.

Cut — What Makes a Diamond Sparkle

No matter how clear a diamond is, poor cutting means poor light return. Every ZILVY diamond is cut to Excellent or Very Good grade, ensuring the most beautiful sparkle the stone can produce.

Color — D Color Is the Purest Grade

D Color is the highest color grade on the GIA scale — completely colorless with no yellow tint. Every diamond we use is D Color, because we believe clarity is what makes your ring truly special.

Clarity — Flaws the Eye Can't See

Every natural diamond has tiny inclusions. But if they're invisible to the naked eye, they don't affect beauty. We select diamonds graded VVS to VS — meaning you'd need 10x magnification to spot any inclusion.

Carat — Weight, Not Size

Many people think carat means size, but it actually measures weight. A 0.30ct and a 0.50ct diamond may look surprisingly similar on a ring, yet the price difference is significant. Let us help you find the sweet spot for your design and budget.

GIA Certification

GIA is the world's most trusted gemological institute. Every diamond 0.30ct and above from ZILVY comes with a GIA certificate, because we want you to feel confident in what you're wearing.

You don't need to memorize all of this — that's our job. Just tell us your budget and the occasion, and we'll recommend the perfect diamond for you.

Gold, Platinum, or Silver: Finding Your Perfect Metal

Material isn't just about price — it's about personality and lifestyle. Same design, different metal, completely different price and feel.

White Gold — For the Modern Minimalist

White gold gives a clean, sleek look that pairs with any style. It's the most popular choice for diamond rings, especially engagement and wedding bands.

Rose Gold — For the Romantic at Heart

The warm pink-gold hue feels unique and personal. Rose gold is perfect for someone who wants a ring that stands out — sweet without being too sweet.

Yellow Gold — For the Classic Soul

Yellow gold is the timeless choice that never goes out of style. Popular in Thai culture, it carries a sense of luxury and heritage.

Vanilla Gold — Soft Warmth, Quiet Elegance

Vanilla gold is a soft, creamy gold tone — warmer than white gold, gentler than yellow. It's the perfect choice for someone who wants something different yet understated, with a luminous warmth that flatters every skin tone.

Choosing Your Gold Karat

9K — Most affordable, very durable, great for active lifestyles | 14K — The sweet spot between quality and price, our most popular choice | 18K — Higher gold content, richer color, for those who want the finest | 22K — Traditional Thai gold, best for simple elegant designs

Platinum — When Only the Best Will Do

Platinum is 30 times rarer than gold. It's hypoallergenic, never needs re-plating, and maintains its natural white-silver color forever. However, it does come at a premium over 18K white gold.

Sterling Silver 925 — Quality at an Accessible Price

We're transparent: silver isn't as durable as gold. But for those who want a real diamond at a limited budget, it's an excellent choice. Same beautiful design as 18K — just a different metal.

Same design, different metal = different price. We can adjust to your budget. Just tell us.

Ring Culture: Thai Traditions Meet Modern Trends

Ring Culture: Thai Traditions Meet Modern Trends

A ring isn't just jewelry. It's a symbol that tells the story of you, the person you love, and the culture you're proud of.

Sin Sod and Engagement Rings in Thai Culture

In Thai tradition, sin sod (bride price) is an expression of sincerity and respect for the bride's family. While engagement rings weren't always part of tradition, today many Thai couples choose to present a diamond ring as a symbol of their promise, alongside the sin sod.

Trends We See in Bangkok

Having served over 5,000 couples, we've observed interesting trends — minimalist solitaire rings are incredibly popular, couple rings where both partners get engaged together are on the rise, and men wearing diamond bands has become noticeably more common.

Couple Rings — A Growing Trend

Many couples choose matching rings with connected designs. They don't need to be identical — just share a detail that links them. Perhaps the same pattern in different metals, or different diamond sizes in the same style.

For International Visitors

If you're visiting Bangkok and want a custom diamond ring, you're in the right place. We serve many international customers who appreciate Thai craftsmanship at direct prices. We communicate in English, and your ring will be ready within 5-10 working days.

Whether you follow tradition or create your own, we're here to design a ring that tells your story.

Keeping Your Diamond Ring Beautiful Forever

Keeping Your Diamond Ring Beautiful Forever

A well-maintained diamond ring will look as stunning as day one for decades. The secret is simpler than you think.

Daily Habits

Remove your ring when washing dishes, cleaning, swimming, or exercising. Chlorine and chemicals accelerate wear on the setting. Taking it off before showering also prevents soap buildup.

Cleaning at Home

Soak your ring in warm water with mild dish soap for 15-20 minutes. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently scrub around the diamond and under the setting. Rinse with clean water and pat dry with a soft cloth. Do this once or twice a month for a like-new sparkle.

Storage

Store your ring separately from other jewelry. Diamonds are the hardest substance and can scratch other metals and gemstones. Use a velvet box or individual soft pouch.

Lifetime Care from ZILVY

Every ring crafted by ZILVY comes with lifetime care — free cleaning, free engraving, and we're always here for resizing and repairs. Just message us on LINE whenever you need us.

We want this ring to stay with you forever. That's why our care never expires.
